What is community storytelling?
Community storytelling is the term I use to describe my freelance projects, which bring journalistic storytelling to local businesses, nonprofits, and community-minded organizations. This often takes the form of in-house news projects, but it can take other forms as well, from social media and communications outreach to finding the common threads in archival records to write intuitive narratives and reports.
I organize the world through stories, and everyone deserves the opportunity to share theirs. I believe thoughtful, human-centered storytelling, whether written, visual, or through oral history, empowers communities and is compelling to audiences.

Uptown 11 Studios for Safelight Labs at Camera Exposure
Analog photography is alive and well in San Diego. Neighborhood camera shop, Camera Exposure provides a space where local photographers can develop film and find community in their craft at Safelight Labs. These are their stories.

San Diego Strikers
Opportunities for competitive women’s soccer narrow drastically after college. The San Diego Strikers is a nonprofit, semi-professional Women’s Premier League Soccer team that has been expanding the playing field for women since 2022. Strikers ensures that players from its diverse roster don’t step off the field before achieving their potential. Explore the Strikers’ website and read these players’ stories.
The Berkeley Student Cooperative
The largest student cooperative in the nation, The Berkeley Student Cooperative has been providing low-cost housing and food to 1,400 Bay Area university students since the Great Depression.
Cooperatively Yours is a twice-yearly print and digital newsletter that connects current student life and BSC projects to 90 years of BSC alumni. As publications coordinator for the BSC, I created the current design and style of the newsletter from scratch following a 2-year hiatus and oversaw the end-to-end production of five issues.
